Judge Profile

Dogs entered my life relatively late. I was smitten by the Bullmastiff's imposing good looks and size and laid-back nature and have owned, showed and breed this wonderful breed since 1995.I have bred some wonderful dogs including the RCC bitch at the Australian National Bullmastiff Show in 2008; and the BISS and RUBISS at the same show in 2014 - all the more satisfying for me living in Perth being remote from the rest of the Continent and the challenges and difficulties we face with limited gene pools and finding suitable breeding stock.

My most successful - and Australia's most awarded Bullmastiff - to date is Kif, Int Ch; UK Ch; Aust Sup Ch Costog Mompessons Home Bru. Kif had an impressive Australian and International show career over 8 years including G3 at Crufts in 2015, numerous BISS and several group and BIS wins in Western Europe. Kif also gained 5 CACIBs - 4 in Europe and the final one back home at the age of 8!

Truth be told, I have always been more interested in evaluating and analysing the other dogs in the ring, than handling my own dogs. I entered the trainee judging program in 2007, gained my Utility Licence in 2010, and was elevated to All Breeds in 2020.

To date I have judged in Western Australia, Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia, NT, Victoria and New South Wales; and in Thailand, Croatia and New Zealand. I have also judged Bullmastiff specialty shows in Queensland , NSW, and New Zealand. I was thrilled to be invited to judge the Bullmastiff World Cup in Zagreb, Croatia in 2023. I have now retired following a career in environmental science, and have more time to indulge my passions for travel, judging, morris dancing, and gardening.

I am the Secretary of the Bullmastiff Club of WA, and committee member of the WA Kennel Club, and the Utility Dog Club of WA.

I am fortunate to live in the Swan Valley wine region with my dogs in an energy efficient house where I aim to live as sustainably as I can, growing much of my food.
