As the first registered Kennel of Perro De Agua Espanol (Spanish Water Dog) in Australia, we are committed to breeding and importing Dogs of correct Spanish type. The Spanish Water Dog breed dates back several hundred years and has its origins most likely in Turkey from where it was imported into Spain as a general purpose sheepdog and guard. It is also used sometimes as a gundog, and is skilled at retrieval from water. The SWD has strong genetic links to other ancient water breeds such as the Portuguese Water Dog, the French Barbet and the Irish Water Spaniel. The SWD is diligent, loyal, affectionate, and intelligent. They have very strong natural herding and guarding instincts, leading them to become the self-appointed guardians of their homes. SWDs thrive on work and play. Their athleticism and extremely hard working nature leads them to excel at any number of tasks. They can be wary with strangers, early and continuing socialization with a variety of people and other animals is essential for a well-adjusted, social dog.Good socialization at an early age greatly helps them cohabit with small children. So its important before bringing an SWD into your home you get to know the breed, meeting the parents and seeing how they interact in their own home. Our foundation imports have arrived from Spain and Breeders with Spanish Bloodlines. All of our dogs are Health tested. We welcome all inquiries about the breed and welcome any prospective new owners into our home.

Our puppies are $3500 pedigree registered with papers on the limited register. They will come with a huge puppy pack valued at over $400. They will be vaccinated microchipped, wormed and health checked. Their parents are dna tested and clear. So they won’t be affected by any of the hereditary diseases. Our dogs are raised on 36 acres as part of the family. We have insulted night kennels for their safety in the evenings and during the day they live on the acres and with us. So have free access to enjoy life all day. We will lock them away on some days for a couple hours for their safety if we know we are having a busy day with visitors or parties and if they’re in heat. A couple of the dogs will stay inside at night but as a pack of 9 dogs it’s just too many for all of them to stay inside and have access to outside in the evenings. Our puppies are raised inside our home from birth to around 3 weeks old and then moved to our under cover verandah and large insulted whelping kennels. Once they’re 4-5 weeks of age during the nice weather days they’ll be set up in the grass playpen and back in the large kennels at night. 5-6 weeks we start taking them for small drives in the car and get them used to noises and movement. 6-7 weeks we will do a bigger play day/ open day with them. And 7-8 weeks we start more one on one crate training them for 10-20 mins at a night and we also try to more intensive toilet training with them. We have large folder with all information.

We have babies! All our puppies are brought up in the home from the moment they arrive and until the time they leave. They are wormed from 2 weeks of age and will be vaccinated and microchipped. They are brought up on premium kibble and fresh food. They come with a great puppy pack to get you started. Yes we send interstate and internationally at your cost. We are pleased to announce our next litter due December 2024 by Bestbuddies Prionnsa Merle out of Brackenvue Luna Eclipse. Colours expected are black and white, blue merle, chocolate merle and chocolate. Parents have had full genetic testing done through Orivet so puppies can be guaranteed to be free from any genetic diseases associated with the breed. Parents have been hip and elbow scored with Lavelles, both having recorded good scores. These test results are all available for potential buyers on request. We are currently looking at downsizing our show and breeding numbers and are making available some of our older Water Dogs. We are looking for homes who have experience with the breed or have spent time researching and understanding that a Spanish Water Dog is a little different to most other dogs.
