The Rabbit (“kaninchen”) sized dachshund is newly recognised by the ANKC, the smallest variety of dachshund in the FCI show rings.

Whilst they are small (chest <32cm for boys, <30cm for girls), they are dachshunds - hunters, diggers, with big attitudes and will. Rabbit dachshunds must contain adequate muscle and strength to sprint after prey, dig into holes, and catch their prey. It’s much more than just producing small dachshunds. How they are structured to is paramount to their health.

Our lines are imported from Japan and in 2023 from Europe. I cannot thank enough the beautiful specialist rabbit breeders abroad who have supported and mentored me in this new breed endeavour, and we hope to do you proud in Australia.
We hope to breed a combination of these beautiful lines to produce healthy, conformationally correct offspring.

As a show breeder, we will be taking to the ring in late 2022 to begin titling in the conformation ring.

We will not have any litters until AT THE EARLIEST mid 2023.

Our adults are health tested, including DNA testing for PRA, and X-ray back and hip scored (looking at the potential inherited risk of IVDD and hip dysplasia), and tested for patella subluxation.

LaSimba has been involved in showing and breeding Rhodesian Ridgebacks for 25 years and has gotten involved in Lagotti for the last three as the breed aligns so well with the AAT (animal assisted therapy, education and activities) space…a key focus for us with involvement in school dog programs.

Our puppies come from ANKC registered parents with impressive pedigrees, ensuring the continuation of the breed's exceptional characteristics and health standards. Both have attained their Australian Championship titles.

With a focus on responsible breeding practices and quality care, we prioritize the well-being and happiness of each puppy, setting them up for a fulfilling and joyful life in their new homes. We use ENS and Puppy Culture methods in rearing puppies in the family home. Parents have been hip and elbow scored and have had full DNA breed profiles and health testing done. Puppies will be microchipped and vaccinated.

We are currently taking expressions of interest for our upcoming litter of puppies expected in early August.

This litter is a long awaited pairing between our homebred roan girl, Aust Ch. Ludivine Clementine (Clemmie) and recently arrived in the country brown boy NZ Ch. Aust Ch. Glenstar Man of the World (Mac). Both parents have wonderful temperaments and are excellent examples of the breed, having successfully shown across Australia and charmed people with their sweet and approachable natures. Clemmie is the apple of our eye and Mac has been turning heads since his arrival. Both are extensively disorder tested and are healthy, happy dogs.

Our litters are raised within our home with particular care taken to ensure they are accustomed to all that family life has to offer. Using the Puppy Culture method, they are raised around children, other animals, and are exposed to a wide array of experiences to set them up for success.

Dear Enquirer,

LagottoMoon has puppies available in August.

LagottoMoon had 9 puppies on 14th June 2024. The puppies are being raised in my home in the Adelaide Hills. I have just shy of two acres with 3 children, 4 Lagottos, 1 cat, chooks and bees. I am a huge advocate for this amazing breed.

They have been vet checked, microchipped, vaccinated etc.

Stud Bassi, and Dame Flossie are DNA tested diseases/disorders including all known to the Lagotto Romagnolo (LSD,HUU,JE), excellent Hip and Elbow scores and the dame (Flossie) is eye tested.

Above all, both dogs have lovely temperaments. I was very excited to have the opportunity to use Bassi as a stud a second time, and 3year old Flossie is being an absolute star Mum. She is going amazing feeding and caring for 9 with her first litter.
