Valeighunter Rhodesian Ridgebacks is a small select Kennel located in the beautiful Gold Coast Hinterland. Our fully fenced 8 acres is a dogs wonderland and paradise consisting of rainforest, rolling green fields and natural waterways with many varieties of birds and creatures for their curious noses to search out. I have owned, trained and been in love with this beautiful breed for over 36yrs, and have a good understanding of their many and varied personalities and temperaments. Our dogs are not Kennel dogs. They share their lives with us, coming on holidays and traveling everywhere with us when we travel for work. We go to great lengths to ensure our Valeighunter babies go to only the best homes, and that their Humans have our support, whenever needed. I am a small scale breeder and exhibitor of Rhodesian Ridgebacks. My dogs live a life of luxury as companions in my home. They are fed premium food, have daily bush hikes or runs at the beach and accompany me on regular outings (e.g. nursing home, coming to work, brunch at cafes etc). I love the breed and want to share the joy I get from my dogs, by breeding to produce quality puppies of a high standard for companion and/or show prospects. I always aim to improve and preserve the integrity of this amazing breed with every litter I thoughtfully produce. Any dog used in my breeding program has full comprehensive health testing performed (CHEDS hip and elbow scoring +/- PennHip if indicated, cardiac auscultation and echocardiogram (+/- Holter Monitor if indicated) by cardiologist, and full Orivet DNA profile (including screening for JME, DM, EOAD). Breeding stock must be of excellent temperament and be suited as family companions first and foremost, with show ring success being a bonus. Puppies are raised with care inside my home using the puppy culture protocols. They go to new homes vaccinated, sterilised (tubal ligation/ vasectomy), with a comprehensive information book, food and blanket. The well-being of every puppy I produce is important to me, and I am available to assist and advise on any issues for the lifetime of my puppies. Sandridge Rhodesian Ridgebacks is based on a 20 acre farm high on a ridge of the Korowai o te Tonga peninsula made up of two million year old sand dunes, overlooking the Kaipara harbour, about an hour north of Auckland. Our kennel is founded on some of the finest true to type Rhodesian Ridgeback bloodlines. Our aim is to preserve the very best of the breed by producing great temperaments, sound conformation and fabulous character in all our dogs. Our special dogs are successful as show dogs, much loved members of the family and obedience competitors. All our puppies are properly socialised in a busy household as part of our family life. Our dogs have been PennHip and ANZ elbow scored for dysplasia (low risk) and DNA tested clear for Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy, Degenerative Myelopathy, Haemophilia A & B and D Locus Dilution (blue) gene, . We will always take back a dog we have bred if for any reason the owner is unable to keep him/her. In October 2024, I had honor and privilege to judge over 300 Ridgebacks over 3 days at the RR Club of the USA National Show in Salt Lake City. This is the first time an Australian has judged this show since its inception in the 1950s. All our puppies will be on limited pedigree papers, even though they are show quality puppies, we do prefer our dogs to be part of a family environment. Our price includes two vet checks, two vaccinations and their Micro-Chipping, a strict worming program and our health and hereditary guarantee. Having made a decision as to which of my gorgeous boys I am going to go on with from my last (after 40 years) Ridgeback litter, I am making Doc (Isilwane I Am The Future) available for sale. He is a 12 month old very handsome Liver nose boy, from fully tested parents. He has been rotating between my place (semi rural) and a good friend's (suburban surrounds), he is lead trained (slip collar and lead - no harnesses), crate trained, house trained, socialised with lots of other breeds including his Staffy girlfriend Millie, whippets, German Shepherds. He has also been shown with success (happy to consider someone who'd like to bond with him and take him out again - he doesn't like to be rushed). He is very well behaved in the house and was easily taught the boundary of the kitchen when goes on his visits, knows what "on your bed" means and loves bounding onto the bed in the morning for a smooch. Good with kids. Hasn't been around cats. He would do really really well with a companion but also fine if on his own with great humans in his life. This is not a rescue/rehouse situation. He is for sale and we have put a great deal of time and effort into making sure he has the best training (as has his brother) ready for when I made this decision. He is up to date on worming and vaccinations. Happy to do the move to a new home over time with visits and sleepovers to acclimatise him to a new home & family. Reluctantly, I am looking for a new forever home for my gorgeous Zuri (Australian Ch Rijstone Wyndrunhrs Rubys Gift (AI)) She is 6 years old, fit, trim and very healthy, has recently had a litter of pups and been desexed. She has a big outgoing cheeky personality. She is used to being with other ridgebacks and has lived inside and outside but now prefers to be inside and being amongst daily family life. She will either need the company of another ridgeback or people who are mainly home. She is very affectionate and craves attention. She is crate and toilet trained. She loves going for walks.
