Schlau Miniature Long Haired Dachshunds is a small select kennel that has specialised in the breeding and showing of this variety for 45 years with in excess of fifty Australian and International Champions. We are constantly striving to improve the breed as a whole with carefully planned breeding programs and a natural diet, which enhances the health and wellbeing of the puppies that we breed. We usually only breed to enhance our show team but sometimes have puppies and mature dogs available to loving homes. All puppies are provided with a puppy pack, limited registration papers, will have been on a regular worming program from 2 weeks of age, vaccinated and micro-chipped before going to their new homes. In working to improve the breed all stock has been PRA tested. My introduction of long hair miniature dachshunds into my family came about a few years ago when I purchased my first long haired red girl, Poppy. Poppy’s temperament is a genuine, loving, sweet nature, she is very adaptable to her surroundings, happily embracing being out on social walks as well as being just as content to spend the afternoon on our laps just taking in the days with us. I find the temperament of the long haired dachshunds to be well suited to an older owner as well as a first time dachshund owner. Poppy has blessed us with 5 beautiful red puppies for her first litter, they are all happy, healthy and thriving at 5 weeks old ( 29Febuary 2024).
