At Tirowen we are one of the pioneers in the breed in Australia, having been committed to this special breed for almost fifty years now. Our first Irish Wolfhound was Ch Erindale Fortuna (imp UK) who came to us late in 1972 and since then we have continued to build the breed, importing dogs and semen from leading bloodlines in Europe, the United Kingdom and America.

Our hounds are first and foremost our companions, bred to be family dogs. We breed for temperament, health, longevity and type. The fruits of our efforts can be seen in many homes here and abroad - but also in the showring where we have an illustrious history. Tirowen owned and/or bred Irish Wolfhounds have achieved the ultimate accolade in the showring winning 37 Best in Shows at Specialties in Australia.

Anne and Francis are both International dog judges and have judged the breed in Europe, the United States, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand at Specialty level.

Our dogs are raised in a family environment, we show and sport with our dogs, showing their versatility, intelligence and giving them an enjoyable outlet for their function. We don't believe in shortcuts and it shows in our dogs. All our dogs are well mannered, enjoy show and sports, are fit for function and meet breed standards.

We have all of our dogs tested correctly - Hearts, hips, shoulders, eyes, liver and DNA.

Our dogs are not in cages or pens and have free roam of our house and yard at all times, they are socialised with horses, pigs, sheep, cats, birds and children. All of our dogs are family members. They are included in everyday activities making them well-rounded and balanced animals. We concentrate on de-sensitising our pups, and they are raised on a farm with children.

All pups that will be available will be sterilised prior to leaving, come with comprehensive puppy packs, complete pedigrees, insurance and lifetime support.

We are a small kennel situated in the Adelaide Hills, concentrating on quality rather than quantity. Health and temperament are equally important to us , prior to breeding any of our hounds, they undergo breed screening heart checks from a veterinary specialist cardiologist and are x-rayed for both hip and elbow dysplasia with official scores publicly available on the Irish Wolfhound Database.
Our imported bitch, Grand Champion Fleetwood Maureen At Creena is the first Irish wolfhound import to gain the title of Grand Champion, an accomplishment we are immensely proud of and her offspring are winning well in Australia , New Zealand and the UK
All the hounds keep extremely fit running on our acreage and some, due to their calm, steady temperament, have been used as service dogs, visiting elderly hospital patients. They are also very devoted to the youngest members of our family; all puppies are given the opportunity to interact with young children whilst being raised at Creena

All dogs bred by us have full complete pedigrees with full registered names in every generation

Maemuki Japanese Spitz are expecting a gorgeous litter in December! Puppies will be ready for their new homes in early February. We are a dedicated breeder, who have been involved in the breed for 13 years. We strive to produce puppies of the highest quality, who are healthy, well conformed and have a beautiful temperament. We are very proud of our dogs, who are both a joy to live with and also achieve fantastic results in the show ring and as therapy dogs. The Japanese Spitz are our passion, pride and joy! The parents of this puppy have been checked for Patella Luxation and have undergone genetic testing. The Dad has also been hip and elbow scored. Puppies receive a thorough vet check when they receive their microchips and vaccinations at 6-7 weeks of age. The results are communicated by me to their future owner. Our puppies are born and raised inside which sets them up to be wonderful inside dogs. Their parents are much loved companions and members of our family (not kennel dogs). We use puppy culture to support raising our babies and give them the best possible start in life. You will be provided with regular updates and photos up until your puppy going home with you. Puppies can be picked up from Canberra, Sydney or transported interstate. We also have some litters being planned for February if it is not the right time for you.
