Kamania Rhodesian Ridgebacks are located in Bendigo Victoria. I have been involved with this Majestic breed since 1995 but, it all started in the mid 70's when I was much younger. My Uncle introduced me to his Rhodesian Ridgeback- via film and photos, from when he lived and worked in Rhodesia, (now Zimbabwe) with the locals and their families. I fell instantly in love at the beauty of his dog 'Caesar' and the wonderful stories he would tell me. As it would turn out- 20 years later, when I was to purchase my first dog, it had to be a Rhodesian Ridgeback. My first 3 Rhodesian Ridgebacks have since gone to the Rainbow Bridge and it is their qualities I strive to achieve in my breeding program. Exceptional temperament, soundness and beauty are the key elements to selectively produce the occasional litter- either for the show ring or for loving family pets. All dogs used for breeding have had their hips and elbows x-rayed and scored. Also a full DNA profile is done for each dog prior to breeding to check for health issues that can affect Rhodesian Ridgebacks- i.e. DM (Degenerative Myelopathy), JME (Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy). Puppies are checked at birth (and then weekly) for Dermoid Sinus. I am very particular about the breedings I do often spending hours thinking about the right combinations of bloodlines. Reluctantly, I am looking for a new forever home for my gorgeous Zuri (Australian Ch Rijstone Wyndrunhrs Rubys Gift (AI)) She is 6 years old, fit, trim and very healthy, has recently had a litter of pups and been desexed. She has a big outgoing cheeky personality. She is used to being with other ridgebacks and has lived inside and outside but now prefers to be inside and being amongst daily family life. She will either need the company of another ridgeback or people who are mainly home. She is very affectionate and craves attention. She is crate and toilet trained. She loves going for walks. She is excellent with people and children and may ok with other breeds of dogs if introduced slowly. No cats and Zuri has never been around one. Having made a decision as to which of my gorgeous boys I am going to go on with from my last (after 40 years) Ridgeback litter, I am making Doc (Isilwane I Am The Future) available for sale. He is a 12 month old very handsome Liver nose boy, from fully tested parents. He has been rotating between my place (semi rural) and a good friend's (suburban surrounds), he is lead trained (slip collar and lead - no harnesses), crate trained, house trained, socialised with lots of other breeds including his Staffy girlfriend Millie, whippets, German Shepherds. He has also been shown with success (happy to consider someone who'd like to bond with him and take him out again - he doesn't like to be rushed). He is very well behaved in the house and was easily taught the boundary of the kitchen when goes on his visits, knows what "on your bed" means and loves bounding onto the bed in the morning for a smooch. Good with kids. Hasn't been around cats. He would do really really well with a companion but also fine if on his own with great humans in his life. This is not a rescue/rehouse situation. He is for sale and we have put a great deal of time and effort into making sure he has the best training (as has his brother) ready for when I made this decision. He is up to date on worming and vaccinations. Happy to do the move to a new home over time with visits and sleepovers to acclimatise him to a new home & family.
