The Lagotto Romagnolo is a small/medium curly coated gun dog originating from Italy. The breed can be traced back several hundred years and is the foundation dog to all water dogs such as Poodles, Portuguese Water Dogs, Golden Retrievers, Labradors, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling retrievers to name but a few. The breed is not well known in NZ and is often mistaken as a spoodle (gasp). Our dogs are raised on a beautiful life style block in the Wairarapa. We adhere to Dogs New Zealand Breeders Code of Conduct. We have health tests performed on our breeding stock as recommended by the New Zealand Lagotto Romagnolo Club. Because my passion is dog sports, breeding for temperament is of paramount importance to me. I am a trainer at my local dog club and compete in obedience and Rally O. ATHELAS LAGOTTO - ACT/NSW Hello, we are the Truffle Patch a small truffle farm in the Canberra Region nestled amongst the wineries of Murrumbateman. In 2009 our family fell in love with Truffles and the Italian Truffle Dogs, Lagotto Romagnolo. Follow our facebook page 'Athelas Lagotto - ACT / NSW' and share our journey. All our puppies are clear by parentage for genetic disorder and their parent’s hip and elbow scores are within the breed standard. All our puppies go to their forever homes vet checked and socialised with children and other animals. Our Junior Truffle Hunters will also be exposed to truffle scent and truffle play. All our dogs are proven truffle hunter and we are confident their puppies will be too! We have carefully chosen our breeding lines to ensure our dogs are a beautiful combination of gentle, social and curious. Our girls are delightful gentle natured and love to be around people and to play and snuggle with kids and adults alike. They are also incredibly intelligent, curious and energetic and loves to hunt for truffles. LaSimba Kennels has been involved in showing and breeding ANKC purebred dogs (Rhodesian Ridgebacks) for 25 years and has gotten involved in Lagotti for the last three as the breed aligns so well with the AAT (animal assisted therapy, education and activities) space…a key focus for us with involvement with school dog programs. Our puppies come from ANKC registered parents with impressive pedigrees, ensuring the continuation of the breed's exceptional characteristics and health standards. We are involved in conformation showing and have recently campaigned two to their Australian Championships. With a focus on responsible breeding practices and quality care, we prioritize the well-being and happiness of each puppy, setting them up for a fulfilling and joyful life in their new homes. We use ENS and Puppy Culture methods in rearing puppies in the family home. Parents have been hip and elbow scored and have had full DNA breed profiles and health testing done.
