Von Roth German Shepherds are a small breeding kennel located 80kms north west of Melbourne, Victoria. We breed exclusively from European working bloodlines and our aim is to preserve the true working ability of the German Shepherd Dog.
Our dogs are excellent family companions and guardians and have been selectively chosen for their sound nerves, working instinct, health and conformation. All of our breeding stock are DNA screened for genetic diseases and undergo hip and elbow scoring.
Due to our dogs possessing very high instinctive drives, we screen our puppy buyers carefully to ensure that prospective owners have had prior experience with high drive working dogs. This is to ensure our dogs are placed in the right homes that are matched to providing the correct enrichment and welfare needs.
We have over 70 years combined experience in the breeding, training and working of dogs in law enforcement, detection work, dog sport and obedience.

Meet Lou (Sheatarn Astrella)- our delightful and 'true to type' female sable German Shepherd Dog. This very contented and powerful girl is busy planning her next litter. She will be joined with an all black working line male (Alpinebase) to produce a mixture of sable or all black pups.
Lou comes from a long line of working GSD's with siblings in military/ government/ police roles.

She is extremely owner focused which makes her incredibly eager to please and train.
With excellent hip and elbow scores well below the breed average, and genetically tested, we raise our puppies to be gently handled by all members of our family. Our babies grow up with cats, other dogs, normal household sights/ smells and sounds.

The Sire: Regalhaus Quest needs no introduction. With many notable dogs in his line including his grandfather Security Lex, Regalhaus Quest is one of the old style working dogs. Bred from the old lines before high drive was being selected and bred from as is the case with the modern day sport dog.

The dam Vonrook BLily. Lilly is from our B litter which have gone on to be one of our best litters. Lily is a high drive female. Very clear and solid nerves.

This puppy has been environmentally imprinted from birth and has experienced all facets of farm and family life including machinery, gunshots, livestock, other dogs and more.
We require our puppies to pass a temperament criteria including stock whip cracks and .223 gunshots to test nerve strength which she passed and raised on a raw biologically appropriate diet.
