We compete in conformation shows and aim to produce quality Cavaliers who are excellent representatives of the breed and who are healthy, well adjusted and temperamentally sound. We compete successfully in All Breeds and Specialty shows, both locally and interstate. We breed Cavaliers for temperament, good health and for the betterment of the breed. We have carefully chosen dogs for the foundation of Blacklash with healthy bloodlines. Our breeding dogs hold clearances by Veterinary Specialists for hereditary heart and eye diseases and hold certificates for DNA testing of Episodic Falling (EF) and Curly Coat/Dry Eye (CC/DE). Our dogs are tested for clear hearts annually by a Veterinary Cardiologist. Our dogs are also tested and cleared for Patella Luxation prior to breeding. Making informed decisions from health test results enables us to adapt our breeding programme and to reduce the risk of these diseases appearing in future generations. We raise our puppies and live with our adult dogs in our home and they are an important part of our family life. Our puppies are raised to be confident and well adjusted, whether they are destined for a show or performance career or as a companion in a pet home. We raise, train and socialise our puppies with the world renowned Puppy Culture protocols. We are very proud ambassadors and partners in this programme. Old Rowley Cavalier King Charles Spaniels kennel was established in 1976 by Bill and Bronwyn Murdoch. Since then, we have owned, bred and successfully exhibited Cavaliers and Japanese Chins. We continually strive to improve the quality and health of our Cavaliers and have imported Cavaliers from successful breeders in the United Kingdom and Australia, including the world famous Homerbrent Cavaliers (UK) on which our Old Rowley lines are based. We have recently added to our lines by importing frozen semen from the leading Cavalier breeder in Ireland. All our Cavaliers are fully health tested, including DNA testing for inherited diseases than can appear in Cavaliers. Copies of health certificates are available on request. All of our dogs are DNA tested for Curly Coat Dry Eye and Episodic Falling Syndrome. Our breeding dogs hold current heart clearance certificates from a cardiologist as well as current ACES eye specialist certificates. Our puppies are raised in our home in a loving family environment so they are used to all of the noises and experiences of a home and well socialised. Breeder of high achievers in both the All-Breeds and Specialty arenas in Australia, as well as Cavaliers who have had great success in the showrings in Sth Africa. There have also been CAVTOWN Cavaliers who have excelled in Obedience, Agility, other Dog Sports, and several who have acquired Therapy dog classifications in various fields. One little Blenheim girl was (to the best of her owner's knowledge) the first Cavalier in Australia to become a fully qualified Assistance Dog for the Hearing Impaired. Extremely proud to be the owner/breeder of the first Wholecolour Cavalier in Australasia to gain the Grand Champion Title.
