Benbowin is a small devoted kennel in Central West NSW, with over 40 yrs experience in Purebred Dogs. Welcoming enquiries and happy to share information and encouragement of this delightful hound the Basset. Benbowin Basset hounds are seen in the Showring, working homes and Family lounges with loving natures and larrikin characters.

Involved with breeding and exhibiting Bassets for over twenty-five years. We only ever breed selectively to improve the quality of the Basset Hound, focusing on temperament, and conformation to the standard. This has proven very successful for our kennel, producing over 20 Australian Champions and 2 Australian Grand Champions, as well as owning/ campaigning the First ever Basset Hound Grand Champion in Australia. That dog, Aust Gd Ch Jimetta Loxley was one half of the start of our line breeding program which now is almost complete. We have recently imported a Brother and Sister from Bassbarr Bassets in the UK (the bloodline which our Bassets started from) and they will soon be used to complete this last step in our breeding program. Supreme Chammpion, Aust Sup Ch Dowjac Tchaikovskys Tempo, will be shown at Specialty shows and Royals, and will be available for stud to approved bitches.

Cayugaridge has been breeding basset hounds after competing in the hound ring for over 15 years with standard wire dachshunds and breeding American cocker spaniels for over 20 years in the USA. Our lines are based on imported American and European lines, as well as Australian lines from Beauchasseur basset hounds. We test all our dogs for key basset hound health issues including LaFora, POAG, severe autoimmune syndrome and thrombocytopaenia. We pride ourselves on great basset temperaments, type and correct movement. We've imported and added leading European lines to enhance our breeding program in 2024. We have a litter arriving at the end of October 2024 with Ch Cayugaridge Curacao (tricolour male) x Ch Cayugaridge The Botanist (mahogany and white female). See photos in our breed profile. Both dogs are health tested.

We currently have a litter of tri colour puppies that will be ready to go into their new homes before Christmas. The cost of our puppies is $3.500 and that includes registration, immunisation, micro-chipping and vet check prior to departure. We take great pride in breeding sound dogs, and as a result of this have had major wins in most Australian states, with our Kennel name appearing on many winning dogs throughout this country and overseas, which is something we are very proud of. Our pedigrees are of the highest standard and quality, with blood lines including dogs imported from the United States of America, England, and Ireland, and many of our animals living overseas. Some of our more recent successes include winning Best In Show at the Basset Hound National Show held in Victoria in November 2023, Best in Show at both the Qld and NSW Basset Hound Club Championship shows as well as Best of Breed at both shows held at the Brisbane Royal in 2024.
