Hi, Shokuma Akitas have been around for about 15 years. We
have done our best to promote our breed and one of our biggest achievements was when the Japan kennel club, which is the Akitas home of origin, took a picture of "Midas" at the Melbourne Royal Show and used it as the blueprint for their breed standard for the "American Akita" The Japan Kennel Club, has 161,000 members and is the country of origin for the Akita breed. They used Midas' picture for about 4 or so years as their breed standard. It is a huge achievement for a South Australian bred dog and a credit to Midas' breeder Ken and Thelma Taylor, Kyooma Akitas, who were the first to bring Akitas to both Australia and the UK. Midas is part of Shokuma Akitas. Our achievements include: over 300 Best of Breed awards, and more than 150 Group/Show awards. Aust's Number One Ranked Akita for 1998, SA's only Grand Champion Akita, Adelaide Royal Show "Best in Group" winner 1998 and SA's Top Spitz dog for 98 & 99.

For novices of nearly 5 years we are having a great time exhibiting our dogs and have some great sucess in conformation showing thanks to the breeders and quality of the dogs that we own.
