My great love as a child and early education was in horses. My induction into the World of Dogs began when I purchased my first fox terrier in the early 80’s off the late Mr Peter Luyten (Rama prefix). I was then very fortunate to start a long journey with the late Mr Cam Milward (Grenpark prefix) who mentored me on the essence of identifying and judging breed type. One lesson he taught me was finding the best cow, sheep, chicken and even a flower and then asking me to explain why. This lesson was to foster an understanding of quality, balance, temperament, conditioning and carriage. Cam taught me how to handle, groom and breed fox terriers.
The time I spent with Keven, my dear father and kennel partner was priceless. His background in pigeon racing and breeding furthered my knowledge in the importance of the female tail line. My father and I established Ecirp kennels and we bred over 200 Champions, Grand and Supreme Champions and Specialty and Best in Show winners. I continue breeding and showing today. In 2008 I began my judging career and judged the terrier group at the KCC Park Championship show with 140 entries.
I have judged in most states of Australia including the terrier specialties in NSW, Tasmania, New Zealand and overseas in California and Virginia USA
I have held the positions of President of the Fox Terrier Club, President of the Maldon Kennel Club (which I also assisted in developing) and Vice President of the Sporting Terrier club in Victoria. I am currently a committee member of the Ladies Kennel Club. I love judging and as a retired teacher I strongly support junior handlers and mentoring of the terrier trainees.
My love of education has also led me along the path of being a co-founder, moderator and a contributor of the site Canine Construction and Conformation, which is designed to bring judges, breeders, specialists and trainees together to learn about the breeds in detail, to share knowledge and for further education. We now have almost 20,000 members World wide including the president of the FCI. .This has become a very popular go to for learning and can be found on Facebook.
