My involvement in the Dog Show scene started in 1984 as a Child Handler, with the Dachshunds -Std Sm, Std & Mini Longs. I got my first Whippet in 1991 ~ Ch Kana-ka The Music Man, and have had them ever since. enquiries most welcome.

Roxhunter Kennels have a very select pedigree breeding program and are based in Hawke's Bay. ** Puppies due November 2024 ** Stud dogs available. Our puppies are raised in our home and are socialised with children, cats, and farm animals. We have been involved in showing dogs for over 25 years and are also involved in Agility. Having lived with and shown Whippets since 1976 , we started breeding with the 'Arjuna' Kennel name in the early 90's. From the first litter , 3 Dogs were shown , all gained their UK Stud book No's and 2 went on to win Challenge Certificates . Our First UK Champion came from the 2nd litter , not a bad average !! We moved to New Zealand in 2007 bringing 1 dog & 3 bitches with us. the girls were here for breeding purposes but we hoped 'Olli' would do OK in the ring ... He has gained his Title both here and in Australia and his progeny are following in his footsteps . Olli is now behind many of the top winning Whippets in NZ . The two boys arrived on the scene from Kana-Ka , Connor & Kaos ,both having attributes that I thought would benefit my breeding . the Boys gained their Titles quite quickly . We now have 5 Generations of Show Champions , 2 x Grand Champion and and the Only Whippet Speciality Grand Champion in NZ, they are also doing great things on the Race Track ... We aim to breed True 'Multi Purpose Whippets' - Show , Race , but Mostly much loved pets .

We are a small Dogsnz (NZKC) registered kennel based in the town of Murchison, situated at the top of the South Island. We have been devoted to this loyal affectionate breed for many years and could not imagine a life without them, hence Matakitaki whippets was established. Our breeding aims to enhance genetic diversity and raise social, healthy, true to type whippets. We occasionally have puppies available. Our puppies are raised in the home and on our lifestyle block amongst other animals including sheep, chickens, and of course our other dogs. Puppies will have been regularly wormed and had first vaccination and vet checks before going to their new homes. Successful applicants for puppies will receive NZKC Pedigree papers, a Royal Canin puppy pack, and ongoing support.
