Established in 1998, we are a small, select Kennel located in South Australia combining quality Australian, European and American bloodlines. Breeders of Multiple National Best in Specialty Show, Multiple Best in Specialty Show, Multiple RU Best in Specialty Show and Best in Show winning dogs in Australia and Europe. Only breeding occasionally, we put an enormous amount of research into all our breeding plans, working to introduce a healthy amount of genetic diversity via out-crossing to outstanding examples of the breed from around the world. We breed for type, functionality and soundness, but most of all temperament. Puppies are lovingly reared in our home, and extensively socialised, and introduced at a young age to a wide range of stimuli to maximise their learning and development. Kushika puppies have gone on to excel in many disciplines under the guiding hand of their dedicated owners, such as Obedience, Conformation, Tracking, Track and Search and Endurance, but most importantly they make wonderful, lifelong family companions. We got involved with Rhodesian Ridgebacks in 2003 started from showing our boy Cooper (Aus Ch Balnacoin Kelton) at conformation shows and actively working for the RR club of SA. We take dog breeding very seriously therefore we don't breed often and mainly when we want to add a puppy to our family and for our future breeding program. We bred our first litter in 2009 and then breed only occasionally introducing new bloodlines to our kennel, keeping great temperament and true breed type of our Ridgebacks. We actively show our dogs and they enjoy this sport as much as we do and we are so proud of their achievements. I am a small scale breeder and exhibitor of Rhodesian Ridgebacks. My dogs live a life of luxury as companions in my home. They are fed premium food, have daily bush hikes or runs at the beach and accompany me on regular outings (e.g. nursing home, coming to work, brunch at cafes etc). I love the breed and want to share the joy I get from my dogs, by breeding to produce quality puppies of a high standard for companion and/or show prospects. I always aim to improve and preserve the integrity of this amazing breed with every litter I thoughtfully produce. Any dog used in my breeding program has full comprehensive health testing performed (CHEDS hip and elbow scoring +/- PennHip if indicated, cardiac auscultation and echocardiogram (+/- Holter Monitor if indicated) by cardiologist, and full Orivet DNA profile (including screening for JME, DM, EOAD). Breeding stock must be of excellent temperament and be suited as family companions first and foremost, with show ring success being a bonus. Puppies are raised with care inside my home using the puppy culture protocols. They go to new homes vaccinated, sterilised (tubal ligation/ vasectomy), with a comprehensive information book, food and blanket. Having made a decision as to which of my gorgeous boys I am going to go on with from my last (after 40 years) Ridgeback litter, I am making Doc (Isilwane I Am The Future) available for sale. He is a 12 month old very handsome Liver nose boy, from fully tested parents. He has been rotating between my place (semi rural) and a good friend's (suburban surrounds), he is lead trained (slip collar and lead - no harnesses), crate trained, house trained, socialised with lots of other breeds including his Staffy girlfriend Millie, whippets, German Shepherds. He has also been shown with success (happy to consider someone who'd like to bond with him and take him out again - he doesn't like to be rushed). He is very well behaved in the house and was easily taught the boundary of the kitchen when goes on his visits, knows what "on your bed" means and loves bounding onto the bed in the morning for a smooch. Good with kids. Hasn't been around cats. He would do really really well with a companion but also fine if on his own with great humans in his life. This is not a rescue/rehouse situation. He is for sale and we have put a great deal of time and effort into making sure he has the best training (as has his brother) ready for when I made this decision. He is up to date on worming and vaccinations. Happy to do the move to a new home over time with visits and sleepovers to acclimatise him to a new home & family. Reluctantly, I am looking for a new forever home for my gorgeous Zuri (Australian Ch Rijstone Wyndrunhrs Rubys Gift (AI)) She is 6 years old, fit, trim and very healthy, has recently had a litter of pups and been desexed. She has a big outgoing cheeky personality. She is used to being with other ridgebacks and has lived inside and outside but now prefers to be inside and being amongst daily family life. She will either need the company of another ridgeback or people who are mainly home. She is very affectionate and craves attention. She is crate and toilet trained. She loves going for walks.
