Sandwoodlabs is a small kennel and my aim is to produce quality, sound family companions with excellent temperaments. I have grown up with and owned Labradors for over 45 years, and they are beloved family members first and foremost. My dogs compete very successfully in conformation and obedience, and they love the human interaction and socialisation aspects those outings provide. They are the true Labrador 'type' - loving companions, biddable and love their humans, a zest for life, and outstanding personalities. Our Beginnings - We are a small dedicated kennel located in Weipa, Far North Queensland, Australia. We started in Central Queensland and travelled to NQ and FNQ for shows until we moved to NQ and now FNQ. Mahelu is all about "Quality not Quantity" this is what we have strived for since starting in this breed 30 years ago.

Our Kennel - Our prefix is derived from the names of our 3 sons. Mahelu Labrador Retrievers focus on quality, soundness and type, but most of all the importance of a true Labrador temperament, drive and willingness to please. All our dogs are health tested.

Our Labradors - Are part of our family, they live in our house, join us on camping adventures & holidays. We breed for ourselves first, this means we only breed to introduce a new member into our family. The other puppies in the litter are destined to become a loyal loving Labrador in your home.

Our Dog Sports - Has included Obedience, Endurance Test, and Agility, but mainly Conformation Showing. We have had the pleasure of guiding many dogs to their Australian Championship title, whether they were our own dogs or loved by others.

Our Future - We plan to attend a limited number of confirmation shows across Australia (while on holidays), but our main aim is to love having Labrador Retrievers in our home that make for wonderful family members. A recent mating between our lovely yellow girl Anitian Chino (Lenimer/Tenarda lines) and Razzarox Mr Stan Lee has resulted in a little box of chocolates - five girls and four boys to be exact. Stanley is a rising star in North Queensland. At only two years old, he already has CCD, SWN and RA titles on his pedigree. He has been successful in Retrieving Ability Tests, obedience, and tracking competitions. These puppies will be great ambassadors for the breed - intelligent, athletic and willing to please.
