We are a small kennel situated in the Adelaide Hills, concentrating on quality rather than quantity. Health and temperament are equally important to us , prior to breeding any of our hounds, they undergo breed screening heart checks from a veterinary specialist cardiologist and are x-rayed for both hip and elbow dysplasia with official scores publicly available on the Irish Wolfhound Database.
Our imported bitch, Grand Champion Fleetwood Maureen At Creena is the first Irish wolfhound import to gain the title of Grand Champion, an accomplishment we are immensely proud of and her offspring are winning well in Australia , New Zealand and the UK
All the hounds keep extremely fit running on our acreage and some, due to their calm, steady temperament, have been used as service dogs, visiting elderly hospital patients. They are also very devoted to the youngest members of our family; all puppies are given the opportunity to interact with young children whilst being raised at Creena

Tirowen was established in 1972. We have spent over fifty years enjoying the companionship of our beautiful hounds, focusing on breeding the very best to the very best. Over the years we have imported six dogs as well as frozen semen from the best lines available throughout the world including the UK, the US and Europe. Tirowen hounds are bred for good temperament, health, longevity and quality. Over the last 50 years our hounds have won 35 Specialty Best In Shows - largely under overseas breed experts - the most recent in in Sydney, April 2019 under breeder/judge Mr S. LeVan of the USA and also the 2019 Victorian Specialty . Breeding carefully and only occasionally, we are currently into our 15th generation of Tirowen Irish Wolfhounds. We are happy to announce the safe arrival of a litter from Ch Wulfgar Tyche sired by Austonley’s Falcon of Shalico (UK).

Our previous litter by Falcon produced multi-Specialty Best in Show winner, multi Best of Breed Royal shows winner, Ch Wulfgar Kaisu and her sister, Ch Wulfgar Kacie who won Best Opposite Sex at the South Australian Specialty and Best of Breed Sydney Royal.

Puppies from Tyche’s first litter are currently winning well with numerous Best Puppy in Group wins.

Tyche has tested clear of all defects for her heart and received perfect scores for her hips and elbows. Falcon has repeatedly tested clear for his heart screening.
