HOW - Breeding takes place in our home, puppies are raised with our children and other dogs. Animal welfare is always our primary consideration. All dogs used in our breeding program have full DNA screening, hip & elbows exams, vet exams before breeding. Our dogs are from some of the most established GSP kennels in Australia. With a combination of Show Champions, Field Champions, and hunting lines. We breed to produce dogs that are: 1. healthy and physically sound 2. have a warm and loving temperament as a GSP should 3. fun and intelligent 4. maintain their innate drive as a gun dog. Our dogs are fantastic as: 1. Pets, running companions etc 2. for obedience, agility or trialing events 3. gun dog work Our puppies are sold on the ANKC limited register. We believe GSPs should both look good in the show ring and perform in the field. We are currently working towards a Duel Champion titles for all our dogs. Our German Shorthaired Pointers are bought up as family pets on a little hobby farm on the Mid North Coast. They are raised with all our farm animals, kids of all ages and are part of our home. Our pups are raised inside with mum until they are slowly introduced outside and the big wide world. Germanicus Kennels whelped their first litter of puppies in March 1973. We are expecting our 2nd litter of puppies at the end of November. Having 2 beautiful Supreme Champions, 2 Grand Champions and several Australian and Dual Champions in our small team of GSP's I couldn't be prouder as a breeder. Temperament, true conformation & biddable GSP's is my breeding aim. WHEN TEMPERAMENT MATTERS, our dogs have even temperaments, wonderful natures and are brought up with children (12 & 14) and in a family environment. Our stud dogs and bitches are hip & elbow scored. We have just the one beautiful black puppy looking for his new family. He is gentle, outgoing, confident and playful. We have been breeding our beautiful type of elegant GSP for more than 50 years. We compete in dogs sports to prove our dogs’ soundness, intelligence and more importantly their temperament and trainability. Our litters have many generations of breeding lines that have been exceptionally successful competing in many of the dog sports. Because we are dog trainers, we pay special attention to socialisation, frequent handling, exploring different environments and varied experiences to ensure a confident, friendly, outgoing nature. Pups are raised to encourage easy house training, not to jump all over you and wants to come when called. As a vet I ensure the best healthy start to life. Pups are wormed, heart worm prevention started, micro-chipped and vaccinated. They are kept at correct lean weight to minimise future joint problems. We give full follow up, and love to keep in touch with our pups, including a Facebook group for our owners where we continue to publish photos, news and advice.
