We are a small kennel & our dogs are a part of the family . These beautiful , intelligent dogs capture you're heart & once you own one will never look at another breed . They are very versatile making a great working but also a fantastic family dog that adore kids . We only breed on a very small scale but try & keep true to the standard . Deerlane kennels is based on the southside of Brisbane, Qld. Breeding for quality not quantity. Our focus is on functional dogs bred for health, temperament and breed type. We began our breed journey over 10 years ago, welcomed our first Lappie in 2016, and are now owned by 4 Lappies at home; Gryffindor, Ollivander, Ariana and Bloom. We also are lucky to have multiple Lapphunds in co-ownership locally, and 2 currently residing overseas that will hopefully join us soon. All are involved in many sports/activities including conformation shows, herding, and lure coursing. Our dogs are most importantly part of the family; living in our house, sleeping on our couch, going on holidays and always by our side. They make fabulous family dogs, taking everything in their stride. All our breeding dogs are DNA tested for genetic diseases (PRA, DM, Pompes), CHEDS Hip and Elbow scored, ACES eye tested, and hearts checked by a cardiologist. Lumottu is the Finnish word for Enchanted and that is what sums up a Finnish Lapphund for me, Enchanting. I fell in love with the breed in 2009 and have since added two into my household. Along with my dogs I enjoy my weekends attending conformation shows as well as obedience classes. Lappies fit into a household with ease. Happy to be out and about or sleeping on the couch. My Lappies are first and foremost my companions and enjoy a range of activities including Showing,Therapy work, Obedience, Herding and swimming at the local beaches. Located north of Melbourne, we have been breeding and showing lappies since 2008. We have bred multiple Best in Show champions, dog sports and trial champions, as well as loved family pets. We keep our kennel small deliberately in order to give each of our dogs the individual attention they deserve, as they are first and foremost members of our family. In addition to our home bred Lappies, we are also very pleased to have been able to import a number of new lines into Australia, which we are now drawing upon in order to improve breed diversity, health and type. We work closely with breeders here and overseas in ensuring Lappies have a great future in Australia. We do not breed often, but when we do our focus is on temperament, type and health. We do all necessary breed testing, including PRA and Pompes genetic screening, ACES eye testing, hip and elbow grading and our Lappies are health checked regularly and prior to any breeding. Our puppies are raised in a typical family environment where they are accustomed to normal family life and early socialisation is a priority. We also provide dedicated Breeder support to the owners of our puppies for the life of their Lappie. Theldaroy is a foundation lapphund breeder in Australia. We have been breeding them since 2001 and at present have the rare litters. I have not had a litter for some years and usually only a couple per annum. We believe that quality is of paramount importance. I have done an insemination with Aarre to Moska.
