Four of our Akita dogs (two couples) have been imported by ourselves and are from Russian Ch lines. This has certainly required lots of commitments on our behalf but also creativity and love for this unique breed. We were hoping to contribute to a wider genetic pool of well tempered Akita dogs within Australia and maybe some of our offsprings may later become suitable to be trained as „animal assisted therapy dogs“, a training two of our dogs have passed. Unfortunately due to illness and the Covid crises there was a bit of a break with showing our dogs and we had to skip one generation. Some of our puppies have certainly show quality, however, loving family homes are being preferred.
We are hoping to have another litter (natural mating) by the end of this year.

Wolfreign is a small kennel located in Melbourne, Vic. Our main focus is for the preservation of our beloved Akita breed. We want to ensure that we breed towards the breed standard and also importantly focusing on health and temperament.

Coming from a professional dog training background over the last decade, we have owned and worked with Akitas and many other primitive breeds during this time. We wanted to step into the world of breeding to assist in the preservation efforts for the Australian gene pool to breed healthy, sound and typey Akitas.

Being only a small kennel, we will only breed with the intention to retain something of quality back for ourselves, so we won't be breeding frequently. We want our future generation dogs to always be better than the previous in all aspects. We also took an extra step and imported two lovely, typey, beautiful natured female Akitas all the way from Russia from reputable, registered breeders.

Our girls have been hip/elbow scored with excellent results, clear of PRA and certified by a veterinary eye specialist. Our girls have also had their patellas assessed while under sedation and clear of luxating patellas.

We go through a thorough screening process for our potential puppy buyers as we want to ensure only the best, most responsible, committed and suitable homes are available to our Wolfreign pups.

Meet Doji, a friendly 3 year old American Akita. He’s full of energy, loves to play and can be a little excited when meeting new people, but calms down quickly.

Doji generally gets along well with female dogs – he is used to being bossed around by a Pomeranian girl! He does like to play rough sometimes though, so any potential canine sister needs to also enjoy the same style of play.

Doji enjoys cold weather, he loves being spoiled and enjoys sleeping on the cool floor. His new home will need to have a secure backyard that has at least 5 foot high fencing, and with no cats or other small animals. His ideal family must have Akita experience and enough time to take him on daily walks, as exercise is important for him.

He loves playing with toys and balls, and he’s a quick learner with great foundational obedience. After he develops a bond with his new family, he responds beautifully to directions.

Doji had knee surgery last year which he is completely recovered from. He may in the future require further treatment for his other back leg, for which he currently has insurance coverage.

Doji is a wonderfully sweet boy who deserves a patient, experienced Akita owner who can handle his large size, so if you fit the bill, please apply!

Doji will require:

* Any children to be well into their teens
* No cats, pocket pets or other animals
* A home as an only dog or with a confident female dog
* Daily walks, always on lead
* Access to inside the home
* A reasonable sized yard with grass and undercover areas
* Secure fences and gates at least 5 foot high
* Experience with Akita ownership is essential.
