Dana Kennels was established in 1974 with our first Welshie joining us in the early 80s. Our three boys took her everywhere with them on the farm and she was their constant companion, she was also shown and achieved her Championship Certificate. Over our long history with this lovely breed we have bred and shown Nationals Winners as well as agility dogs, working gun dogs, and of course many loyal family companions. Our first imported Stud dog came from the Slyvkin Kennels in Australia when we were lucky enough to see the litter and select our lovely boy Rhett 'NZ Ch Slyvkin Gwillym' over the years we have had three lovely boys from this Kennels and we are grateful to Sylvia and Bill for the privilege. We were among the first kennels of any breed in New Zealand to test our breeding stock for any problems of a hereditary nature and have continued to do so. We sometimes have puppies available to approved homes.

Pups have been shown from all of our litters, either by us or their new owners and has resulted in 17 NZ Champs and 1 Aust Champ. And there is the promise of even more quality to come. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have three beautiful Welsh Springer Spaniels (Ryan, Lexie and Ellie). They are wonderful companions, who love joining in with everything we do. We have been keen agility competitors since 2009. Agility is a lot of fun for both the dogs and owners, and we enjoy competing for titles or just having fun training our dogs. Our dogs have demonstrated the versatility of Welshies, always willing to have a go at something new. They have competed successfully in shows, agility, rally-o, and recently added scent work to their activities. We will only breed occasionally, when we are looking for our next agility/show Welshie. Our aim is to breed Welshies with soundness in both health and temperament, whilst remaining true to the breed standard. We have no litters planned for 2023/2024, as we will be concentrating on competition.

The parents have undergone the following breeding and hereditary health tests to ensure their puppies are healthy and free of any genetic diseases: a) X-ray screening of the hip and elbow under the ANKC CHED scheme + AIS PennHIP score b) Cardiac examination with a clearly certified examination health certificate c) Eyes are tested for hereditary eye diseases (i.e., RD, HC, PRA, and G) according to the ACES program and obtain a clear certified examination health certificate from a registered veterinary ophthalmologist d) Full breed DNA health screening for genetic diseases All puppies follow the Puppy Culture Protocol for their personality and socialization development after birth. Our newborn babies were spoken for at birth, but we are excited to share that we are planning another litter! Our beautiful Bella(Trulore Bella Boulevard), has been paired with the handsome Bentley(Shelkeera Belntleigh Oak). Puppies should arrive in March, ready for new homes in May.
