Over 20 years of breeding, showing and grooming experience with cairn terriers. The prefix was Banmhor. I was on the hunt for a small breed without the coat care of a cairn terrrier. I contacted Annika from Sleykh kennels in 2016, she had a little bitch available. I took the chance and this little girl arrived sitting in the back of the crate at the airport very overwhelmed. Little Vida is my precious old girl now. Her sister arrived with us a year later in 2017. We bred the first litter in WA in 2018 under the Sleykh prefix. The mission is to promote and show others how incredible a Podengo is, the perfect little companion. One POD will lead to two! In April 2024 our first litter will be born under our own Prefix Westengo. Thanks to Annika Oksa, Sleykh kennels for all help and support over the past 8 years.

The Portuguese Podengo was introduced into the Ballahond Kennels in 2010. Quality and soundness is foremost when considering this small, active and intelligent breed. Ballahond has promoted these attributes and gained success in the show and dog sports with titles in conformation Showing, Rally Obedience, and Earthdog trials.

I fell in love with this breed 15 years ago when I was introduced by the lady who is responsible for bringing the first Portuguese Podengo to Australia. I have been breeding Podengo Small Smooth Haired for over 10 years. This versatile breed excels at pretty much anything they try. They are smart, sweet little dogs with a great sense of humour. They never really take anything too seriously & lighten even the darkest of days with their joyful antics. Alarves Podengos have been successful in the show ring all over Australia: Winning Best Of Breed at Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne Royal Shows for seven years in a row. Winning Best Of Breed at Sydney Royal with the largest entry of 17 Podengos and awarded Junior in the Hound Group at the 2017 Royal Queensland Show. Alarves Podengos are proud to have bred the only Podengo in Australia to have been awarded Best In Group (Group 1st) of the Hound Group and Runner Up to Best In Show (BIS 2nd). Alarves Podengos also compete successfully in other dogs sports such as Obedience, Agility, Scentwork, Lure Coursing & SprintDog (100m sprint), both here in Australia and in New Zealand. Alarves are proud to have bred the only Podengos in Australia to gain their lure coursing titles of Coursing Ability to Coursing Ability Masters. We have a gorgeous litter born early January 2025. We have female puppies available from this litter. They would make ideal family companions or have potential if you wanted to train her in any performance activities (obedience, agility, rally etc). GlenTarella Borders is pleased to announce that Cally (Ardenwood Cally) and Drift (Cumbeynd Arctic Drift) are expecting puppies in mid- February. Cally is a lithe fast girl, with striking merle markings. She is a true companion and loves to be beside her people. She gives very unique wrap-around cuddles, and loves nothing more than being loved! She is very gentle and whilst she loves to run, has rather missed the herding instinct normally found in borders. Drift is a beautiful, classically handsome boy who just wants to be everyone's friend. He bounces rather than walks and is a playful fellow - kind to our small terriers, ignores the cats and is also quite happy to ignore our stock when out and about on the farm (a definite ‘pet’ border collie!) Both Cally and Drift are double coated and the puppies will be fluffy! This is a first and long awaited litter for these two, and we are excited to see how the puppies turn out. We have babies! This is a repeat mating from Peanut and Kristoff. These pups should have beautiful temperaments just like their siblings from the previous litter which I kept Venus. All puppies are brought up in the home from the moment they are born until they leave. Both parents are DNA clear of all genetic diseases so they will never get them. They will be wormed regularly from 2 weeks of age. They will get a visit from the vet at 6 weeks of age and they will get a general health check, first vaccination and microchipping. They are brought up on a mixture of different variety premium kibble and fresh food. They are brought up with cats so they know how to interact with them, they get to see chickens and ducks through the fence. We start toilet training at a very young age. As they are brought up in the house they will be used to all the noises that are common in the home. They will come with an amazing puppy packet to get you started.
