Glenstar Kennels was established in 1978 and continues to breed Quality Black,Yellow and Chocolate Labradors for temperament and soundness. All dogs in our breeding program have been fully tested for hip and elbow dysplasia, DNA tested for PRA, Exercise induced Collapse and the dilute gene. Our dogs also have annual eye certificates and heart clearances. Glenstar Labradors are found in loving homes as companions, important members of a family, gundogs and or acting as service dogs for the disabled and detector dogs.

We are a small kennel situated on a sheep and beef farm in rural Gisborne. We aim to breed top quality labradors with excellent temprament and ability in the outdoors. With a young family our dogs are well socialised with children, and spend a lot of time outdoors with us duck shooting, deer stalking etc. Registered with DogsNZ our bitches have excellent hip and elbow tests and current eye certificate. We only use stud dogs who have achieved results of a very high standard.

We are a small kennel situated approximately 1.5 hour's drive North of Auckland,on a 57 acre lifestyle block in Te Arai. My aim is to breed quality yellow [with a special interest in the FOX RED shade], black , and occasionally chocolate labrador puppies that are true to type, genetically sound and impeccably natured. All breeding stock are hip and elbow x rayed and have annual eye checks. They are all also DNA tested for EIC and PRA., HNPK, MCD, CNM, Dilute gene and Long Coat Gene. Although I do exhibit my dogs in the showring, my favorite times are spent on daily off lead walks over the farm and at local beaches, watching their natural antics. I am committed to breeding the best labradors possible - with temperament, health, conformation and versatility all being vital "ingredients" in what I think a labrador should be. I'm keen to keep (and nurture) the natural retrieve drive this breed has, combining it with the temperament that makes them the ideal family pet, and also for them to be able to hold their own in the show ring - great structure enables them to be fit for function. My guys are raised in the home as part of the family and fed on a raw natural diet. Puppies occasionally available to approved homes.

We are pleased to announce that Phoebe has had a litter of 9 puppies, whelped on the 22nd of October. A black female is available. The dam and sire are health tested (with good results). This includes hip and elbow scores, annual eye certificates, and full DNA testing. Copies of these health test results are available if requested, and copies given to all new owners. Puppies are registered with DogsNZ (formerly NZKC) in their new owner's name. We choose families for our puppies based on their knowledge of Labrador needs, and the home and love they can provide. We are proud of our puppies, and open to discussions about removing some breeding restrictions for informed labrador breeders. These puppies will be ready for their new homes on the 17th of December. Please note that we never sell puppies as Christmas presents (never - no exceptions).
