Meet Sadie (Lilyspad Sadie)- our delightful and physically 'true to type' female Labrador. With excellent hip and elbow scores below the breed average, and genetically tested, we raise our puppies to be gently handled by all members of our family. Our babies grow up with cats, other dogs, normal household sights/ smells and sounds.

Backadri is a small family owned Kennel on the outskirts of Ballarat. We breed working style labradors for their intelligence, health and athleticism, and that most labrador of qualities, biddability. We currently have 2 breeding age field lab style bitches, and are lucky we have the space to keep our retired bitches and dogs as pets. We aim to breed healthy, intelligent and biddable dogs that fit well into family environments.

Our dogs live with us on our 160 acre property, and enjoy walks in our bushland, farmland, and swims in the river on our property. Some sleep indoors, some outdoors, they are in their run when we're out, and when we're home they're usually in the garden or the house with us. They are easygoing dogs ready to get along with any new people or dogs they meet, and to us, that is a big part of what this breed is about.

Our puppies are raised in a family environment. All are well socialised with our dog pack and people, including children of all ages, before they go to their new homes. We strive to find good matches in puppy temperament to buyers' situations, and regularly receive positive feedback on how well our dogs fit into their new families lives.

We regularly receive positive feedback from vets on the health of our dogs and pups, our ethics, and the efforts we go to to ensure we are providing healthy pups to buyers.

We are planning one litter in 2024, which will be ready for homes mid December.

I am a mad animal lover living with 5 amazing Labradors. 4 chocolates and 1 yellow. My Eldest Buster is now retired. Then we have Bronte, Oliver,Maggie and our new girl Indie. They all live in the house often hogging the beds. We all walk every day stopping off at both dams on our way round the property. They have loving personalities and eat natural foods that I make myself. All my dogs are tested for PRA and EIC. They are all CLEAR! Their eye are checked annully with 10 out of 10 received for all. Bronte comes with hip scores of 1/1 elbows 0/0. Alfie is 0/0,0/0 Oliver's hip scores are 2/2, elbow's 0/0. My aim in breeding my dogs is to give families the joy and love that these wonderful animals can give. While also giving the best quality and temperment. Joey consistently produces beautiful puppies with fantastic temperaments and has produced really lovely puppies to this same bloodline already.

Georgie is a very sweet girl who is very laid back. She is very trainable and smart and only needs one more pass to get her scent work novice title. Georgie's puppies from last year have been incredibly nice puppies and very trainable, with of course great temperaments.

All our puppies are reared in the home until they are 5 weeks old, then graduate out to their puppy yard, cosy big box to sleep in and their puppy gym with lots of stimulating toys and activities. They are all well handled by us, our grandchildren and visitors who all have to give them big cuddles. My facebook page has many pics and videos of the puppies as they grow.
