Avonel Border collies are a very small kennel situated in the lovely Hunter valley NSW. Our dogs are inclusive to our everyday lives and are brought up with our two children, horses, cattle, cats and wildlife. All our dogs are DNA health tested and have their hips and elbows scored.

Our aim is too breed borders collies that are of the very best health, temperament, confirmation and soundness!!

With DNA testing we can assure you that all our dogs are clear from all hereditary diseases and with hips and elbows scored they will be of the best soundness.

Being a registered breeder and member of the Australian National Kennel Council and dogs NSW we adhere to all of the many rules, regulations and protocols that are needed to be an ethical (loving) dog owner/breeder.

Only having one litter a year means we can focus 100% on breeding only the best of this fantastic breed.

Pups will be able to go home at 8 wks of age, with pedigree (limited) registration with ANKC dogs nsw, a 6 week pup insurance pack, vaccinated, wormed and with a very generous puppy pack full of loads information and many goodies.

Our BCs will fit right in with any active loving family home and would make fantastic sporting dogs in agility, flyball, nose work, disc dog, triebball, obedience/rally o and of course showing!!

Whatshades Border Collies are taking expressions of interest on Black/White, Red/White and Choc merle and Blue merle puppies.

ANKC Limited Register. Mains can be discussed with registered breeders.

Brandy is our red/white girl and Whiskey is our black and white boy. Both parents had FULL DNA profiles done. So puppies will not be affected by the 14 testable border collies hereditary diseases.

We are a select registered ANKC breeder of gorgeous border collies, currently a member of Dogs NSW. Our dogs are raised and kept as members of our family and hold a special place in our hearts. I take pride in breeding versatile family dogs, who are active and loved members of the family. All of my dogs are raised in a well-socialised, family environment, kept both indoors and outdoors, surrounded by adults, young children, and other dogs and animals such as cats and chickens. We also use Puppy Culture protocols and early neurological stimulation techniques to help prepare our puppies for successful training later in life.

We are a small rural breeder and all our pups are very well socialised. They are raised on our farm with small children, chickens, horses and cats. Woombye Border Collie pups are wormed every two weeks and will be vaccinated, microchipped and vet checked for health before leaving for their new homes. The parents have tested free of the Border Collie diseases and have low hip and elbow scores.

All puppies come with a food and information pack.

Our puppies are $3500 pedigree registered with papers on the limited register. They will come with a huge puppy pack valued at over $400. They will be vaccinated microchipped, wormed and health checked.
Their parents are dna tested and clear. So they won’t be affected by any of the hereditary diseases.

Our dogs are raised on 36 acres as part of the family. We have insulted night kennels for their safety in the evenings and during the day they live on the acres and with us. So have free access to enjoy life all day. We will lock them away on some days for a couple hours for their safety if we know we are having a busy day with visitors or parties and if they’re in heat.

A couple of the dogs will stay inside at night but as a pack of 9 dogs it’s just too many for all of them to stay inside and have access to outside in the evenings.

Our puppies are raised inside our home from birth to around 3 weeks old and then moved to our under cover verandah and large insulted whelping kennels. Once they’re 4-5 weeks of age during the nice weather days they’ll be set up in the grass playpen and back in the large kennels at night.
5-6 weeks we start taking them for small drives in the car and get them used to noises and movement. 6-7 weeks we will do a bigger play day/ open day with them.
And 7-8 weeks we start more one on one crate training them for 10-20 mins at a night and we also try to more intensive toilet training with them. We have large folder with all information.
