Judge Profile

Having gained my Group 7 (Non Sporting) licence in early 2024 I look forward to assessing many wonderful dogs at Championship level conformation shows. I am happy to travel and am committed to offering my time without onerous cost to clubs.

A little about me:

I was drawn to the Dog Show world at a very young age, but it took me until the early 1980's to afford to buy my very first show dog -a Doberman. I enjoyed this breed for many years until family sporting commitments saw me take a break from the dog world in pursuit of personal and familial sporting success.
Once the fledglings flew the nest I found myself wanting to take up our hobby yet again and started from scratch in the early 2000's. Having taken on a boy in need, the Shar Pei breed caught my eye and I set about seeking one to show. I was blessed to be given an opportunity to own and exhibit with success a lovely Pei girl from Sumwrinkles kennels and was hooked.

As is often the case; my eye was then drawn to the Chow breed, in particular the smooth coated variety. The close links in their heritage to the Shar Pei made it an easy decision to include one of these magnificent dogs to our home; and as the saying goes "The rest is history"!!

With the combination of skills in coaching and training, coupled with a science background; I enjoy researching and sharing of knowledge in pursuit of best practice in relation to breeding, training, welfare and presentation of dogs. As a qualified Trainer and Assessor I enjoy presenting to judges training programs on my breeds, as well as many other topics such as Grooming, Dogs First Aid, Ring Craft, Breeding and Puppy Raising.

I look forward to improving my skills and knowledge both within the Dog World and personally during my judging experiences.
