Judge Profile

My involvement in the dog world began in 1981 when my wife purchased our first German Shorthaired Pointer.

Over the next few years we became actively involved in the Canine World, exhibiting and field/trialling our GSP's, and I became involved with the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of SA, eventually serving as the Club President for a number of years.

The Woodwych prefix was registered in 1983, by myself and my wife Robyn, and we were joined on the prefix by my daughter Lauren in 1997 (at the age of 14). Woodwych has produced multiple All Breeds & Specialty Best & Runner Up Best In Show Winners, Royal Show CC & BOB winners, Australian Champions, as well as Grand & Supreme Champions. While we have enjoyed much success in the All Breeds ring, our main enjoyment and pride has come with our success in the Specialty & National Specialty ring.
Woodwych bred, owned & handled GSP's have won Best In Show at 3 of the 12 Australian GSP National Breed Specialties - to date, the only kennel to have achieved this. Made particularly special is the fact that this is within 3 generations of breeding (mother/son/granddaughter). At both the 2012 and 2017 Nationals, our dogs were awarded both CC's.

While my main breed has always been the German Shorthaired Pointer, I have also had success in exhibiting Dachshund (Miniature Smooth), English Springer Spaniel & Shar Pei.

During my time in the dog world I have served on the Board of the South Australian Canine Association, held positions on a number of All Breeds Clubs, and am a Life Member of the Port Pirie Kennel Club.

I began my journey in judges training in 1990, and attained my All Breeds status in 2011 (FCI No: 18105).
I have had the pleasure of not only judging in all states of Australia, but also in New Zealand, China, India and Indonesia.
I am an Accredited Conformation Examiner for Judges Training, and I particularly enjoy mentoring upcoming Trainee Judges.

The canine world has been our family's lifestyle for the past 40 years.
