My involvement in purebred dogs has been lifelong. Born into a family of successful dog enthusiasts,

I am the third generation of my family to successfully produce Best in Show winning examples of our

chosen breeds.

More than 50 years ago the first Pug and Pekingese joined my mother and father's families followed soon after by Saint Bernard's. Their love for these breeds continued as a lifelong passion and is something that has been passed on to me, along with my father’s love of judging them. 

For my 11th birthday, my parents purchased a Miniature Pinscher as my gift. 'Ozzie' (Khanrae Childs Play) is currently still the only Miniature Pinscher ever to have achieved the requirements to gain Grand Champion status in both Australia and New Zealand and by his 8th birthday we had achieved over 14 Best in Shows together.

Between 2008 and 2012, I lived in Australia where I presented and handled multiple breeds across all groups. While living in Australia, I was lucky to co-own the phenomenally successful Aust Sup & NZ Ch Sweetess Ice Crystal. Crystal and I won many All-Breeds Best in Shows together, Best in Group at Brisbane Royal. Best In Show at the NSW Pug Club and Reserve Best In Show at the Victorian Pug Club shows. 

I am a co-owner of the 'Tai Yuan' prefix along with my mother (Dianne Rogers - previously Shenyang Pekingese), Aunt (Cath Tippett) and my wife (Stacy Donaldson - previously Astii Standard Poodles and Parima Dobermanns).

The kennel was started by my late father (Clyde Rogers) and throughout the years has had a long and successful involvement in breeding and showing Pekingese, Pugs and Saint Bernard's. Recently, with the addition of Stacy as a co-owner, we have also achieved immense success in the breeding and showing of Standard Poodles.

Across our chosen breeds, we have had multiple breed record holders in Australia and New Zealand, numerous All Breeds and Speciality Best in Show winners, Australian Royal show winners and many Grand and Supreme Champions. Our kennel is also the home of 3 New Zealand National Dog Show Best in Show winners and an additional 3 National Reserve Best in Show winners. In 2017, our homebred Pug 'NZ Ch Tai Yuan Total Knock Out' became the first Pug in several years to win Best in Group at the National Show. 

I have previously held committee positions on clubs such as the Auckland Pug Club, Wellington Pug Club, Auckland Poodle Club and Ladies Kennel Association. Since 2016 have been the President of Franklin Kennel Association and for many years have been an active committee member on the North Island Saint Bernard Association,

In 2013, I was part of the 'NZ Young Kennel Club Working Group' which was formed by DogsNZ to formulate a restructure plan for the junior handler division of the organisation and in 2016, I was a key member of DogsNZ’s National Dog Show Committee.

I have a strong focus on health and welfare issues and have spent the last few years as DogsNZ's Pug representative on their Brachy Working Group. In 2019, I drafted, a breed club supported, submission to DogsNZ proposing the introduction of Litter Registration Limitations for Pugs and I am currently working with the North Island Saint Bernard Association to introduce the same for the Saint Bernard breed.

My professional experience is in Dispute Resolution where I spent several years representing my employer in the small claims Court as the Resolution Manager in their legal team. In the last few years, I have moved organisations and am now coordinating the New Zealand Governments Farm Debt Mediation Scheme within the Ministry for Primary Industries.  

Additional breeds I have had association with include Schipperke, Keeshond, Fox Terrier, Papillon and Griffon.
