At Awildian Irish Terriers, we love our wirehaired little pack. Our dogs are well-adjusted to family life and we have found them to be a willing and loyal breed. The Irish is one of the oldest breeds of terrier and originates from rural life in Ireland. Due to its loyalty and courage the Irish became popular at the turn of last century and was known as the “gentleman’s dog.” These are the traits that this breed is still known for today. Awildian maintain both looks and temperament in our dogs and are dedicated to upholding the integrity of the breed in Australia. Our dogs have plenty of ‘pluck’ as terriers do. They equally love companionship of an evening, curled up at your feet, calm & relaxed. We live approximately halfway between Melbourne and Adelaide in a small rural town. Our dogs fit well into our adventurous country lifestyle of camping, hiking, canoeing, swimming and beach play. At Awildian we get great satisfaction from seeing our puppies find loving homes. I have been involved with Irish Terriers for over 30 years and think they are the most wonderful breed ever! They are an energetic, fun loving dog that love people's company, especially children. They love to exercise and play but also can be quite content just laying in the sun. They are a healthy breed with a weatherproof coat and can live indoors or out. They have a gentle nature but are true Terriers when the situation warrants it. My pups are house raised and come from parents with wonderful natures. I have been quite successful with showing my dogs, winning Melbourne Royal with 3 of them. My dog, D'arcy is Australia's First Supreme Champion of the breed and his nature makes him a wonderful ambassador for the breed. I am always happy to talk to anyone about these dogs.

Meet Chevy who was born 13/04/2024, which makes him 8 months old. Chevy is pedigreed and registered with the Australian National Kennel Club (ANKC). Free of Fanconi and tested for Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) and PPM. Chevy is desexed and has all vaccinations for 1 year. He also has basic training to sit and come, to walk on a lead, sleep in a crate, is toilet trained to litter, pee pads, and to go outside, and travels well in a car. All potential new families will need to be vetted by the breeder for suitability. Chevy is friendly, smart, and get on well with adult Basenjis and will make wonderful companions.
