Grá Mo Chroi in Gaelic means 'in my heart' or 'love of my heart'. As soon as you welcome an Irish Terrier into your life, you are bound to fall in love. My husband and I did, with our first Irish Terrier, Rufus(from Roismar Kennels), back well over a decade ago. When he left our lives, we were inspired to get more involved with the breed. Over the past five years I have been extremely fortunate to be mentored by Pam Gerrey from Tawnyoak, and have got involved in dog shows (which was more fun than I thought) - to ensure what I breed maintains the standards of this beautiful heritage breed. How to best describe what it’s like living with an Irish Terrier? They are loving but irrepressibly cheeky. They are energetic, but also enjoy a cuddle. They are mischievous but will make you laugh (daily). Anyone I have ever met who has owned an Irish always smile in delight at their memories of their dogs. They are the best dogs. Our litters are raised in a family environment and are well socialised, drawing on Puppy Culture principles. Happy to chat and help out with grooming and learning how to hand strip a harsh coat. Nicknamed the “daredevil,” it has earned the reputation of being adaptable, loyal, spirited, and recklessly courageous. It served as a messenger and sentinel dog in World War I, and it has been used to hunt and to retrieve game. The Irish terrier is a sturdily built dog with racier lines than those of other terriers. Its long, relatively narrow head is usually accented by a short beard. It stands about 18 inches (46 cm), weighs 15 to 20 kg, and is distinguished by its wiry golden-red to reddish brown coat. They are an energetic, fun loving dog that loves people's company, especially children. They love to exercise and play but also can be quite content just lying in the sun. They are a healthy breed with a weatherproof coat and can live indoors or out. We are a small family kennel dedicated to breeding the Irish Terrier to the correct standard to produce beautiful dogs with excellent health, temperament, and soundness. Our dogs are of top-winning Irish Terrier bloodlines that excel in the show ring as well as loving family pets with their love and loyalty. This breed is like no other, they are smart and easily trainable, playful, energetic, loving, and gentle with the feistiness of the terrier in just the right size. When leaving us they are microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, health checked, and come with a puppy starter pack. We are pleased to announce we are expecting a litter of puppies early February 2025. Therefore we are taking expressions of interest now as there is likely to be some still available. Our dogs are very much our family members and as such we are able to provide the new puppies with lots of love and socialising. We also introduce the Puppy Culture program from young age which assists in the optimal development of each puppy. We expect to have both black and cream puppies. Our beautiful brown girl Ciara (Ch. Wazky Ciara for Shardonella) has delivered 8 georgeous babies on Boxing Day. Dad is Wazky Kennels lovely import Ash. We would expect puppies to have fantastic temperament and great coats. Puppies are raised in the house with exposure to sounds and sights including children and other dogs, vacuum, tv etc. They are regularly wormed and will have their first vaccinations and DNA's done at 6 weeks. We have Silver and Blue babies. Parents are Health Tested, and genetic diversity tested via Better Bred. Puppies are being raised in our home as part of our family. We have completed Early Neurological Stimulation with these puppies and have continued exposing the puppies to as many experiences as possible in the time they are with us. We follow the principals of Puppy culture and Newborn to New Home Curriculum. Puppies have had weekly baths, dried with force dryer, clipped, scissored, brushed and combed, toenails from 3 weeks old. Started toilet training, car rides and crate training, exploring outside. Puppies will leave us on with Dogs Australia Limited Registration, not for breeding with a desexing contract. Our puppies are part of our family, and we love to be kept updated as they grow and will always have a home back with us/ or help find a suitable home if circumstances ever change.
