My experience has been only short showing and breeding Irish Terriers but every day my family fall more and more in love with the breed, you will too.

At Awildian Irish Terriers, we love our wirehaired little pack. Our dogs are well-adjusted to family life and we have found them to be a willing and loyal breed. The Irish is one of the oldest breeds of terrier and originates from rural life in Ireland. Due to its loyalty and courage the Irish became popular at the turn of last century and was known as the “gentleman’s dog.” These are the traits that this breed is still known for today. Awildian maintain both looks and temperament in our dogs and are dedicated to upholding the integrity of the breed in Australia. Our dogs have plenty of ‘pluck’ as terriers do. They equally love companionship of an evening, curled up at your feet, calm & relaxed. We live approximately halfway between Melbourne and Adelaide in a small rural town. Our dogs fit well into our adventurous country lifestyle of camping, hiking, canoeing, swimming and beach play. At Awildian we get great satisfaction from seeing our puppies find loving homes. Grá Mo Chroi in Gaelic means 'in my heart' or 'love of my heart'. As soon as you welcome an Irish Terrier into your life, you are bound to fall in love. My husband and I did, with our first Irish Terrier, Rufus(from Roismar Kennels), back well over a decade ago. When he left our lives, we were inspired to get more involved with the breed. Over the past five years I have been extremely fortunate to be mentored by Pam Gerrey from Tawnyoak, and have got involved in dog shows (which was more fun than I thought) - to ensure what I breed maintains the standards of this beautiful heritage breed. How to best describe what it’s like living with an Irish Terrier? They are loving but irrepressibly cheeky. They are energetic, but also enjoy a cuddle. They are mischievous but will make you laugh (daily). Anyone I have ever met who has owned an Irish always smile in delight at their memories of their dogs. They are the best dogs. Our litters are raised in a family environment and are well socialised, drawing on Puppy Culture principles. Happy to chat and help out with grooming and learning how to hand strip a harsh coat. We have one female puppy born 17/11/2024 she is a black roan from our beautiful Sasha and Jager this is a repeat mating as these two dogs have produced quality dogs that have excelled in hunting of all our game species. vaccination worming vet checked.
