Appearance
Blue and Tan, born black and tan desired to change color around 20mths old
Fine silky single coat, will not shed hair on the furniture and has no doggy smell, small and active, moderate size toy dog around 9 to 10 inches at the shoulder
Small pricked ears , easy to maintain
History
Bred to kill household rodents etc in years gone by, also family companion dog, final cross between Australian Terrier and Yorkshire Terrier early 1900
Temperament
Friendly happy, alert, great family pet.
Always happy to be with their family, and travels well.
Very intelligent, will keep an eye open for trouble, but will not become aggressive and noisy.
Care / Grooming
The only trimming required is around the feet, the muzzle, the vent and the ears.
If kept clean and bathed regularly they will remain shiny and easy to care for, it is helpful to use conditioner after shampoo, brushing a couple times a week will stop the coat from tangling, the body coat should not need trimming
Health
Very strong healthy dogs, will live to 14 or 15 with very few vet bills only requiring the usual yearly injections and check up.
There is no evidence of hereditary diseases on a regular basis.
If fed well and kept clean your Australian Silky Terrier will live a long and trouble free life
