Select the competition from the tabs below to see the rules for that competition.
The Show Dog of the Year 2008 competition is used to recognise an individual dog's achievements on a National and State level when competing against other breeds.
Eligible results can be entered from any All Breeds Championship Show or Group Specialty Championship Show in Australia.
- The following results are eligible.
- Best in Show
- Runner Up in Show (or Best in Show 2nd)
- Best in Group
- Runner Up in Group (or Best in Group 2nd)
- Only the highest award per exhibit per show will be counted.
- The number of points allocated is based on the number of dogs beaten. For example, a Best in Show win with a total entry of 600 will be allocated 599 points (as 599 other dogs were beaten). A Reserve in Show win at the same show would receive 598 points. Point allocation for Group wins is based on the total number of entries in the group. Absentees are not deducted.
- The following rules apply to the State component of the Show Dog of the Year competition only.
- For the purposes of the competition the 'State', as specified in the point score (herein referred to as the 'competition state') will be defined as the state where the dog has been resident for the majority of the year.
- Where points are won in a show held in a different state or territory to the dog's 'competition state', only the four best wins interstate will be counted.
- In cases where it is difficult to define the 'competition state' we will use our discretion to determine the 'competition state' based on the facts presented. This decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
