Feature Photos
On various breed pages we display an example photo of the breed. These photos are taken automatically from the dog profiles of Blue Ribbon members. A new photo should be chosen by the server each time the page is loaded (depending on the criteria searched for). For example, if a visitor searched for Alsakan Malamutes based in New South Wales, then the server will choose an eligible Alaskan Malamute photo from New South Wales.
All eligible photos are rotated in order so each eligible photo should be roughly seen an equal amount of times. The number of times your photo is displayed depends on the number of eligible profiles we have for that breed. Obviously the more popular the breed, the more photos we have to choose from.
Because the breed display photo is a high profile position, we need to check and approve each photo first before it is displayed. The following photos will as a rule not be approved for display in the breed feature position (although it will be up to our discretion).
- Photos that are too small
- Photos where the quality is not good (ie too dark, blurry etc)
- Photos where the dog is not the main subject
- Photos of dogs that are too young (newborn photos will generally not be approved)
