The LRCQ Inc Rescue and re-Home Service have two gorgeous black Labrador males who are in need of (immediate and urgent) loving "forever" homes. The first boy, Simba, is 7 years young, and a victim of a marriage breakdown. Not only has Simba lost his people, he also had to be separated from his Labrador "sister" and he is craving a home where he can be a super 24/7 companion and best friend. The second boy has no name and at this point in time, very little future, as he is currently in a Council Pound. The staff state that he is just too beautiful to have to endure the inevitable fate of a Pound dog. He is 2 years old, entire, and full of the joys of life. He has been assessed by (?? the Army - not sure of where/how??)and found to be too quiet once his initial enthusiasim for greeting new people wore off!! Sounds like a typical Lab, doesn't it? Ruffles is a very playful dog that’s loves people. He is not inclined to escape by jumping fences but given the chance through an open gate … he would not be able to resist the urge to explore. He has some obedience training, but would need a refresher course, and a firm hand. He can sit on command and is generally a happy dog. He is house trained. |

Still available - 15 August 2008 This grey and white female Husky (with bi eyes) was reprieved from a Council Dog Pound with only hours to spare. She is purebred, born in March 2006, is healthy and well adjusted. She gets on great with our other dogs, loves people and is a happy, responsive dog. She is a dominant female Husky who "bosses" the males we have here, so requires a home with experienced Husky or large breed owners. Not a dog for a first-time dog owner. As with all Siberian Huskies, a fully fenced yard and a commitment to daily exercise and attendance at dog obedience training are essential before you consider adding a dog like Jasmin to your household. She does not dig or indulge in any other destructive behaviours, she is calm and well mannered inside the house - and if you take Jasmin, she MUST BE permitted to spend time indoors with your family through those long and relaxed evenings. Her shorter coat means less combing is needed, but Jasmin will still shed buckets of dead hair when the warm Spring weather comes around. This dog walks nicely on a leash and enjoys her outings with people. Her need for a new home is becoming more desperate and she is looking forward to settling in with a family and putting this stressful time behind her. A home with no cats or "pocket pets" is essential as this breed has a high prey drive and we have no previous history about this Husky, so cannot guarantee her acceptance of small furry pets. He is 3 years old and was neutered while in the Animal Shelter prior to being released to us on 4 June for fostering and re-homing. This dog was surrendered by his owners because they were moving and could not take him with them. He is vaccinated, wormed, heart-wormed and micro-chipped and is in very good health, with no underlying physical conditions. He loves people, and enjoys playing with the other dogs here - being suitably submissive to the more dominant dogs he interacts with. So, he is not aggressive at all, but needs a home with no cats or other "pocket pets". This is such a handsome and good looking dog - one who is sure to grab the attention of all who meet him. In all probability, Sultan was bought as a small puppy, then put outdoors and left to his own devices once the "puppy cuteness" wore off and he started growing up. He was left outdoors while his owners were away at work and quickly became bored, so started to break his way out of their yard at every opportunity. This became a habit over time and made it more difficult to contain this dog. Escaping is a problem which will need to be addressed by his new owners DON'T ENQUIRE ABOUT SULTAN UNLESS * you have a fully fenced and very secure yard * you are prepared to exercise him twice daily for 30 minutes of power walking or bike riding (on leash) * Sultan is allowed indoors with you * someone is home most of the time for company * you are prepared to take him to weekly dog obedience training classes and practice the exercises every day Currently located near Canberra, your enquiries are welcome. He is currently in foster care after being rescued from the pound last week. He truly is a lovely boy - not boisterous, great with other dogs and very quiet without being introverted. He is a tiny male (his back comes up to my knee and I am a 5ft8" female), which is an advantage, as some males can be dinosaurs! He is fantastic in the car and having such a calm nature, doesn't suffer separation anxiety. Having said that, he would do best in a home with another dog - preferably female as he enjoys the company of friends' dogs. He hasn't been road tested around cats or at an off lead park yet, but is great around a friend's 6yr old child (didn't jump on her, just sniffed her and walked away). He's OK on the lead however, his foster carer is training him daily to get him up to scratch. I take it he is fairly well house trained although a few accidents which have been entirely human error. He is currently sleeping indoors in a dog crate which he is fine with, but will be road tested in a dog bed. My guess is that he will be fine, therefore he will be looking for a home which will allow him to be a mostly inside dog (he is very people orientated, so he would really suffer if shut outside). Akira is a 1 and a half year old black and white female pure bred Siberian Husky with brown eyes. AVAILABLE NOW - separately or together These two dogs love running and competing with each other while running. We take them on rollerblades (attached to ourselves with a strong collar and leash)and they will run for many kilometres when they are together as one always tries to stay in front of the other. Both are very happy, excitable dogs and love to play in the back yard on a daily basis. They still have their favourite green toy bone that they love to fetch. But when the rain comes it is nap time and they will find a nice spot outside near the back door and curl up together and go to sleep. Both dogs were born in the tropics. Merlin in Brisbane and Akira from a breeder in Darwin. Though their coats and short for Huskies, they have no issues with colder weather. Both dogs are desexed, vaccinated, wormed regularly and microchipped. Both dogs have had minimal exposure to small children as we don’t have children ourselves. Both dogs have had play time with children as young as 2 and 5 years and were fantastically well behaved. They have never snapped, bitten, or growled at a human. Akira loves to be brushed and loves a regular bath but Merlin is a bit stubborn and doesn’t enjoy it so much but thinks of his brushing time as an "I’m going to run around and you have to catch me” time and always with a smile. Secure fencing and a commitment to daily exercise of two long walks - night and morning - and always on leash are essential if you are considering adopting these dogs. Merlin and Akira have always been much loved and well looked after family pets. Due to a change in the family circumstances, we are devastated to have to give them up. They are both currently living in Medowie, just outside Newcastle. Around 10months ago Khafre was in an RSPCA shelter, his previous owner was not contacted nor found him, and after 2 days was released to a young couple, Khafre was not suited to the couple and was then given to the couples elderly mother and she had called me to rescue the dog as he was too much of a handfull, she was going to surrender him to a pound or have him euthanased. So Khafre is now here looking for an experienced sighthound person to take him on, he is also chipped and up to date with vaccinations and worming. He is an intelligent loving boy, I am also interested in finding his breeder, he has a quite distinguising ofset to the right hand side triangular snip on his muzzle as well as some white on his toes along with his white tail tip and 2 white markings like a diamond on his chest. |
